About Burmilla Cat breed
Description
Developed by crossing the Burmese with the Chinchilla Persian, the Burmilla is a medium-sized cat with an elegant appearance. The head is rounded with a wedge-shaped profile, with a firm chin. The ears are also rounded, and are typically medium or large in size. The Burmilla’s eyes are large and expressive, and should be green in colour (younger cats may have a slight yellow tint to their eyes). The Burmilla has a straight back and rounded chest. The legs are slim but strong, with oval paws. The front legs are ever so slightly shorter than the hind legs. The tail is of medium thickness, tapering to a rounded end.
Origin: Great Britain
Look
The Burmilla may have short hair or semi-long hair; the latter is called Tiffanie by some breed organisations. Short fur is more common. Regardless of the length of the hair, the Burmilla’s coat has a beautiful silky texture. This breed sheds moderately, but brushing your Burmilla once or twice a week should help to remove any loose hair. Burmillas with longer coats will need to be brushed a bit more frequently. This breed comes in several different colours, such as black, blue, brown, chocolate and lilac. A pure white undercoat with differently coloured guard hairs is a common coat pattern. This is known as tipping (where only the tip of the hair is a different colour, giving the cat an overall lighter appearance) or shading (where a third of the hair is another colour, giving the coat a darker appearance).
Health
The Burmilla is a generally a healthy cat, but they are prone to a few health problems:
• Polycystic Kidney Disease

Temperament
Burmillas are usually gentle, affectionate cats with an adventurous streak. They enjoy being around people and will appreciate your attention, but won’t demand your affection. These playful cats remain kitten-like well into adulthood.
Living with
The Burmilla is a sociable cat that enjoys being with people. These easy-going cats are not needy, so you can leave you Burmilla home alone while you are at work. The moment you get home, however, your Burmilla will be delighted to see you. Burmillas are sweet-tempered and get along well with most people, including children. Their playful nature makes them a great companion for children. They tend to like other cats, and do well with dogs if properly introduced. Burmillas are not particularly vocal, preferring to communicate quietly.
