Look
Chartreux cats have a distinctive blue grey coat, paired with vibrant orange eyes. Their fur is short, with a slightly woolly texture. The Chartreux’s ancestors were used to hunt vermin on farms, so this woolly coat helped to keep the cats warm and dry. Female cats often have silkier fur, whilst mature males typically have the woolliest coats. The Chartreux is very easy to groom. These cats will groom themselves, though you can brush them once a week to remove loose hair. This breed sheds during the spring, so you’ll probably need to brush your Chartreux more at this time of year.

When not relaxing, Charteuxs love to play, and will appreciate a few toys and some playtime with their humans.
Living with
This easy-going cat breed is adaptable, and could be suitable for most people’s lifestyles. They tend to get on well with other cats, and don’t mind dogs. The Chartreux could be a good pet for a family with children, as they are very patient as well as playful. Rather than scratching or hissing, a Chartreux would rather walk away if they feel annoyed or tired. Make sure your children play gently with this patient pet. While the Chartreux should live inside, you can teach these cats to walk on a harness, or let them explore a catio or secure garden. The Chartreux woolly fur means that they don’t mind a little bit of cold weather, so you can even walk your cat during the winter.
